We visited the kennel just to tour and view
To consider the addition of a kitten or two
As we view and examine the cats in each cage
We realized a choice from so many would take days

We went to a room where the cats could be held
They brought us a He and a She to be cuddled and felt
The cat’s world restricted, a cage prison was seen
As we gave the cats promise, a future with dreams

For so long they waited for someone to care
Apparently it was destined for us to be there
Though the world outside spins with chaos and strife
This very day we were going to change their life

These two tiny souls bound through our doorways
Exploring and claiming every room
Wandering through their new home, no time they took
Dispelling completely any and all possible gloom.

They entered our lives, a new warmth to embrace
A king named Junior and queen named Socks with a cute face
To love and to nurture, to witness their joy
In love and wander, our sweet girl and boy

Their trust was a treasure, a bond forged with time
In the little things shared, with each so kind
From the kitchen to the porch, each nook they explored
Their happiness a treasure, our hearts they restored

A gentle lick, at a soothing pace
Each washing clean the other’s face
Adopting two cats? It’s more, oh its true
They changed our whole world, but we changed theirs too.

So we changed the world for two souls in need
As love fed love, like a nurturing seed
Our home has transformed, will never be the same
As we stitched in the fabric of kindness, love came.
