My Walking Stick

My Walking Stick: Frank Poland: Lyrics & Music
While visiting a local restaurant, it was observed that many customers were using a walking stick. Conversation developed around this subject. I accepted a personal challenged to write a song about ‘My Walking Stick’.

                         MY WALKING STICK

As the tree cutter entered the forest land
With axe on his shoulder held by his hand
One tree declared to the other trees
The axe handle, one of us, it use to be

Trees serve many purposes times five
One noble cause, a walking stick, to improve man’s life
With every step of ground the stick kissed
Each journey remembered with nothing missed

The stick knows the paths where I have roamed
From sidewalks to driveways or hills at home
It bridges the past to the days ahead
A companion loyal, where ever I tread

My walking stick, a steady friend
With every tap, helping my joints to mend
A symbol of both strength and grief
Together in this world, our journey is brief

With each step taken on rugged ground
The stick catches my stumble, keeping me sound
As the seasons continue to change and unfold
My stick steadies me in Spring, Winter, Summer and Fall

In a world where the old meets the new,
A stick once of wood now has a metal hue,
It’s metal, not wood, Yet still it’s quite good,
As it helps me with balance as good as wood.

With every walk, whether short or long
The walking stick helps to get me home
So I’ll always walk with stick in hand
My stick’s dream, to help unstable man

Help him travel, everywhere he can.
